We recently provided electricity for six families in the Seenigama area of Sri Lanka.
This enabled families to work and live with a safe and effective electricity supply; something we so often take for granted in the West.
Sponsorship... a gift of hope Many children are left with little or no means of support for continued formal education. Education is a vital to help lift some of the children out of poverty and towards a life with more choices.
Through it’s supporters, Lifejacket assists 9 children to remain in education. The assistance contributes to the cost of books, school uniform and extra classes in subjects such as IT and English.
Livelihoods... dignity and pride Lifejacket has provided livelihood gifts for men and women whose means of income were lost in the tsunami. These gifts enable people to once again provide for their families and regain their dignity and pride. These gifts have ranged from a bicycle for a fish seller to sell his goods, to a sewing machine for a seamstress to continue her business with.
Without these simple gifts some men and women in the district would have been unable to rebuild their lives and may have relied on aid indefinitely.
The Foundation of Goodness On all of our projects in Sri Lanka, we work through the Foundation of Goodness, an NGO set-up to provide community support in the small village of Seenigama and the surrounding area.
The Foundation is endorsed by many well-known international figures. We make regular visits to Sri Lanka to monitor progress.
